Ward 106 councillor pleased with the replacement of an old water pipe in Douglasdale
Local councillor said the old fractured water pipe had led to constant water outages in the area in the past few weeks.
Ward 106 councillor Chris Santana said the replacement of an old asbestos water pipe in Douglasdale will bring relief to residents and businesses in the area.
This was after a team from Johannesburg Water replaced a fractured water pipe on the corner of Balder Road and Alexander Avenue.
He said the old fractured water pipe had led to constant water outages in the area for the past few weeks.
“I am grateful that Johannesburg Water has replaced the problematic old fractured water pipe. Instead of only replacing a section I requested, they decided to replace the entire length across the road. This was done to prevent future digging up of the road once the road has been reinstated.”
Santana said the old water infrastructure was the main reason behind constant water pipe burst in Greater Fourways and other parts of the City.
He urged residents to log calls to Johannesburg Water to report water outages and pipe bursts in their respective areas.
Residents can log a call, using the following details: 011 375 5555; SMS 082 653 2143; email customerserviceemails@jwater.co.za or visit www.johannesburgwater.co.za
