Resident calls on members of the public to join her mission to sterilise more pets
Local pets’ lover embarks on a mission to sterilise thousands of pets in different communities across the country.
Mandy Collins, Kyalami resident and founder of Let’s Spay #SA social media group that advocates for the free sterilisation of pets, urged members of the public to join forces with her to get more pets sterilised.
Collins said more than 500 animals in various communities had been sterilised since she started the initiative in 2021.
She said her initiative was aimed at minimising the number of neglected pets that have to be put down or starve to death because owners couldn’t afford to feed them.
“I fund as much sterilisation as possible alone. I have teams that work with me so we can network and find the best solution for all animals in need of sterilisation. I have now put a challenge out to all vets across the country to reduce their rates for us to sterilise as many pets as possible in September.
“I believe that highlighting and getting the information out into the public domain about what we do can help us raise enough funds and sterilise more pets.”
She urged members of the public to join their Facebook group and support the initiative.
