Dysfunctional traffic light makes driving on William Nicol Drive and Robert Bruce Road intersection a nightmare

Local ward councillor said he was receiving complaints almost every day from residents who finds difficult to drive through the intersection.

Fourways residents and motorists have raised their frustrations with a traffic light that has not been working for more than two months at a busy intersection of William Nicol Drive and Robert Bruce Road.

Ward 94 councillor David Foley said he had logged calls to the provincial Department of Roads and Transport to report the issue that causes inconvenience to motorists during peak hours.

Foley said he was receiving complaints almost every day from residents who find it difficult to drive through the intersection.

“I’ve reported this traffic light to the provincial department of transport numerous times but nothing has been done. I also tweeted and spoke to MEC Jacob Mamabolo who promised to get this resolved. Motorists are subjected to stay in traffic for more than 30 minutes from here to Dainfern Square.”

The spokesperson of the department Theo Nkonki said they were aware of the problem.

“We are still waiting for Eskom to help restore power at the intersection in question. We hope that the matter will be resolved once the power utility comes to the party,” said Nkonki.
