Sanco describes the new mayor in the City of Johannesburg as a capable candidate
Sanco celebrates the election of Dada Morero as the new mayor of the City of Johannesburg.
The South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco) in Zone 14 has welcomed the election of Dada Morero as the new mayor of the City of Johannesburg.
This was after Morero was elected on September 30 following the ousting of Mpho Phalatse of the DA. Zone 14 is the ANC and their affiliate sub-region that covers areas such as Fourways, Diepsloost, Cosmo City, Zandspruit, Kya Sands and some parts of Randburg.
Sanco chairperson in Zone 14 Peter Lekalakala said Morero was a perfect candidate to lead the city. “Today is a good day for Sanco in Zone 14 as we celebrate the nomination and election of Dada Morero as the new executive mayor of the City of Johannesburg. We believe that he is a perfect and competent candidate for the job.”
Lekalakala said while they supported and celebrated the swearing-in of the new mayor, they would not sit idle and clap hands when things were not right.
“As the revolutionary civic movement championing community needs, we will shout if things are not in favour of communities. We are expecting the mayor together with his collective committee to ensure that basic services are delivered to communities.
“We will settle for nothing less. We are even prepared to mobilise communities to go to the streets to demand better service delivery.”
