Club tennis championships in Paulshof reaches its climax after six weeks of impressive tennis
The tennis club at Rivonia Recreation Club had strong and intense competitors playing for the winners’ trophy.
Rivonia Recreation Club in Paulshof hosted its annual tennis club championships finals.
The finals in the singles, doubles, and mixed doubles were the culmination of an intense tournament that began in February.
Club manager Matthew Bayley said, “There was a huge participation from club members. There was a big draw for the knockout matches so there was some good tennis on offer during the championships.
“There’s a lot more social tennis matches to take place at the club which is exciting as well.”
The men’s doubles saw Warwic Spence and Duncan Horne win against Brad Vermeulen and Bryan Gordan 2–6, 6–1, 6–2.
Karyn Hambridge and Danielle Brady Moffat won the women’s doubles against Carmen Spence and Anthea Hurly 4–6, 6–1, 6–1.
Over the next few weeks, the club will host several events.
The winners in each category were:
- Women’s singles: Danielle Brady Moffat
- Women’s doubles: Karyn Hambridge and Danielle Brady Moffat
- Men’s singles: Warwic Spence
- Men’s doubles: Duncan Horne and Warwic Spence
- Mixed doubles: Warwic Spence and Danielle Brady Moffat.
