Dainfern goes pink for international women’s month celebrations
Dainfern hosts International Women’s Month celebration event.
Dainfern was host to an event celebrating International Women’s Month and themed 50 shades of pink.

Women from different walks of life celebrated by participating in discussions on a number of topics. The event was organised by founder of SA & Beyond magazine, Sunisha Sookdew.

Guest speakers approached topics of grief, parenthood, career goals, and overcoming great obstacles.
“I’m happy that you all are here, and I am excited that we are going to be sharing lots of inspiration. I feel grateful and blessed to be in a room with so many powerful women,” said Sookdew.

The magazine initially focused on travel but when the lockdown hit the country, stories on travel became non-existent.
Sookdew shared how the magazine changed to a women’s empowerment platform. “I really wanted to use the platform for something that will make a difference. Being a woman, I felt we needed more women empowerment platforms.

“I decided to shift content focus from ‘South Africa and beyond travel’ to ‘SA and beyond women across the globe’. We all have a story to tell. We are here to give that opportunity to share that story and let other women know that they are not alone.”

Sookdew said more events like this must take place to inspire women. “We should not look at other women as competition but at ourselves as our own competition. We need to make sure we are there to pick each other up and move forward successfully,” she said.
