Operation O Kae Molao descends on Fourways

Police conducted an anti-crime operation called O Kae Molao in Fourways.

Operation O Kae Molao in Fourways has yielded success as crime is highlighted.

This operation forms part of a broader multidisciplinary effort by the police in Gauteng to fight crime.
SAPS led the operation overnight in various locations in Fourways. They also moved to Cosmo City Mall with the assistance of the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD), private security companies and members of the community policing forum (CPF).

Major General Mbuso Khumalo, Major General Max Masha and Lizzy Mabena were part of the SAPS oparation

Addressing the Fourways Review, Deputy Provincial Commissioner, MajorGeneral Khumalo said more than 800\ people were arrested across the province for various criminal offences.
“Some of the people who were arrested are repeat offenders. The more we put them back in prison, the less crime will be reported. At the roadblock in Fourways, there were 50 undocumented persons that were arrested and they are being processed by the team [police] as well as Home Affairs,” added Major-General Khumalo.
Police stopped and searched vehicles and used technology that has the ability to identify wanted suspects or criminals.

Adam Mashabela, the senior officer at Fidelity Service Group, said, “When we are out here helping the police at these roadblocks and being visible, it helps as a crime deterrence wherever we are.”

During the overnight operation, members of law enforcement also shut down unlicensed liquor trading premises (shebeens) and alcohol was confiscated.
Major-General Khumalo said the police would conduct more operations in the province and locations that get chosen are informed by the prevalence of the crimes being reported in those locations.
