Cricket team fulfil dreams in Sri Lanka

Fourways Action Sports Indoor Cricket managed to overcome its finance hurdles to compete in Sri Lanka.

The Fourways Action Sports Indoor Cricket team participated in the U-Pro World Club Series tournament last year which qualified them to compete in this year’s U-Pro World Club Series in Sri Lanka.
However, they were faced with financial constraints to go and compete but the Fourways community rallied around them with donations so they could make the journey.

“The journey to glory comes at a cost – approximately R40 000 per player. This covers travel, game fees, kit, and essential spending money to ensure our athletes can shine without financial worry. We needed to raise at least R480 000 to ensure all 12 players could go on this journey of a lifetime,” said team representative Luca Naude.

She added to raise the money they organised raffles and created a back-a-buddy fundraising account.

And it was all worthwhile as the team secured second place in the competition, showing true sportsmanship on and off the field.
