Better Fourways and Live Life Always succeeds in cleaning up the Clay Oven verge
Better Fourways is still calling for community help to stop the growth of informal settlements in the area and to be part of the journey as they transform the area from trash to treasure.
Working to save Fourways, Better Fourways, a non-profit organisation, has successfully completed a major cleanup initiative in the Witkoppen East area, dramatically transforming the neglected Clay Oven verge into a vibrant and welcoming space, working with Lovemore Robson and his team from Live Life Always.

The project not only cleaned up litter and debris but also redefined the landscape of the area, turning it from an eyesore into a space that residents can take pride in.
“It was not an easy job to tackle, but we succeeded and the area looks fabulous, all thanks to Better Fourways for sponsoring the massive cleanup ” expressed Robson.
Raffaella Carnicelli, chairperson of Better Fourways, said, “We’ve made an enormous difference along this stretch, and the Clay Oven verge has undergone a complete revamp. Better Fourways is extremely grateful to Lovemore Robson and his team for their hard work and dedication in changing this landscape.”
Better Fourways announced plans to establish a community vegetable garden on part of the newly cleaned verge. Local residents from Clay Oven will take on the stewardship of the garden, fostering a sense of ownership and community involvement in this project.
Fourways Review spoke to Mike Moyo, community leader and spokesperson from Clay Oven informal settlement, who confirmed that they are part of the community vegetable garden.
“We are more than happy to be part of this project. This is our way of giving back to the organisations that help us to keep the area clean. We still have to discuss this in more details in terms of where are we going to get water from to water the garden.”

Better Fourways is still calling for community support to raise the R200 000 to help stop the growth of informal settlements within Fourways.
This funding will help them prevent the degradation of the neighborhood, ensuring that: ‘their beloved community does not turn into another Clay Oven’.
“Fourwayers, please remember that we can all be part of the movement to change our suburb for the benefit of all – one road at a time,” urged Carnicelli.
A BackaBuddy campaign has been established to raise funds for this project. Here is the link: Backabuddy.co.za/campaign/better-fourways.
