Douglasdale SAPS nabs 54-year-old in drug bust

The Douglasdale SAPS Crime Prevention unit arrested a 54-year-old male for dealing in drugs, recovering suspected cocaine, ecstasy, and mandrax.

Members of the Douglasdale SAPS Crime Prevention unit apprehended a 54-year-old male suspect on July 21, for allegedly dealing in drugs.

The arrest was made after police observed a suspicious transaction between two individuals near Lonehill Village.

According to Brigadier Veeshani Arikum, the station commander of the Douglasdale police, “Our proactive patrols and vigilant officers led to the recovery of suspected cocaine, ecstasy, and mandrax during a search of the suspect.”

She said the suspect has since appeared in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on charges of dealing in drugs.

This latest arrest brings the total number of drug-related arrests in the area to seven, following a recent bust where another male was found in possession of over 80 mandrax tablets.

Arikum emphasised the unit’s commitment to tackling drug-related crime for a safer community.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure our communities are safe and free from the scourge of drugs.”
