Sector 3 CPF to re-elect executive committee

Sector 3 residents are called to the polls as the Community Policing Forum prepares to re-elect its executive committee, shaping local safety and community action.

Douglasdale Police Forum invites residents of Sector 3 to participate in the re-election of the executive committee for the Sector 3 Community Policing Forum. This will take place at a special general meeting on October 1, at 18:00 at the Indaba Hotel.
The meeting will focus on re-electing six executive members to serve the remainder of the five-year term. The positions up for election include chairperson, deputy chairperson, secretary, deputy secretary, public relations officer, and patrol co-ordinator.

Residents and employees within the Sector 3 precinct – including Broadacres, Chartwell North, Dainfern, Dainfern Ridge, Dainfern Valley, Fourways Gardens, Kengies, North Champagne Estates, Palm Lands AH, Steyn City, Stratford, Witkoppen Extension, and Zevenfontein 407 – are eligible to participate, provided they can present proof of residence or employment.

All nominations must, according to the media statement by the CPF, be submitted electronically by 17:00 on September 22 to the CPF chairperson Lizzy Mabena, secretary Samantha Pittendrigh, public relations officer Freda Boiles and SAPS Station Commander Brigadier Arikum.

“Both the proposer and the nominee must complete and sign the nomination and acceptance forms,” reads a statement from the forum. “The proposer must also attach a clear copy of their ID and proof of residence, not older than two months. Certified copies should be brought to the meeting for verification.”

Individuals that are not eligible to hold elected positions include: previously expelled or suspended CPF members without prior approval, SAPS employees and reservists (unless ex-officio), those with unexpunged criminal records, private security company employees (unless ex-officio), non-South African citizens without permanent residency, persons under 18, elected political office holders, and anyone with a direct conflict of interest with SAPS operations.

“Candidates are expected to attend monthly EXCO meetings,” continued the statement, “participate in community activities, campaigns, and patrols, and commit to fulfilling their duties for the full term. The election will be conducted by a show of hands during the meeting.
“Sector 3 residents are encouraged to take part in this important process and help shape community safety in their area.”
