If there is one thing people in Fourways know too well, it’s traffic. Long waits, slow turns, and morning queues have become part of daily life, and in suburbs like Pineslopes, residents say the problem is only getting worse.
Ward 93 councillor Vino Reddy agrees. Standing at The Straight Avenue and Forest Drive, Reddy shared how even ordinary cars struggle to turn through the bend during peak hours.

“Now, imagine what happens when a super-link truck has to make that same turn.”
For Reddy, the issue is more than just an inconvenience; it’s a design flaw that impacts both residents and delivery vehicles.
He said large trucks carrying alcohol and cold drinks regularly service shopping centres in the area, but the current road layout forces them into tight turns that slow down all surrounding traffic.
“If a car takes so long to turn, you can imagine what a truck has to do.”

Reddy has suggested widening the road on one side, to create a straighter axis, or slightly reducing the size of the traffic circle to allow for easier turning.
“This has already been flagged with JRA traffic engineers. We had a conference call about it, and I’m waiting for their report.”

He added that community complaints continue to surface on local groups, showing that residents feel the strain. “People don’t complain for no reason.
There is merit to their concerns. Lonehill, Pineslopes, and the surrounding complexes are directly affected when traffic builds up like this.”
As vehicles lined up along the road during his visit, Reddy gestured toward the growing congestion.
“This is what I’m talking about. It builds up quickly. We need to pay attention and act before the situation worsens.”
