Sunninghill Community Ratepayers Association wishes residents a Happy New Year
Sunninghill Community Ratepayers Association wishes residents a Happy New Year amidst challenges from 2024, looking forward to a better 2025.
As we step into the new year, the Sunninghill Community Ratepayers Association extends heartfelt wishes for a prosperous and happy 2025.
Linda Gildenhuys, chairperson of the Sunninghill Community Ratepayers Association, acknowledged the hurdles faced by the community in the past year. “2024 has been a challenging year for us all, and Sunninghill is no exception.
“The suburb has grappled with ongoing service delivery issues, including sewage problems, frequent water pipe bursts, and a lack of maintenance support from the City of Johannesburg. These challenges have left residents feeling frustrated and, at times, helpless as they witness the effects on both their investments and dwindling incomes.”

However, Gildenhuys emphasises that despite these difficulties, there’s a silver lining. “We are not called the Sunninghill Ratepayers Association, but the Sunninghill Community Ratepayers Association, and that is precisely what we are – a community, a family,” she remarked.
In the face of adversity, the residents of Sunninghill have rallied together. Gildenhuys noted that challenges are met with unity and a sense of togetherness. “Our membership remains strong, and the support from our members enables us to counteract much of the problems faced.”
Thanks to community backing, Sunninghill continues to enjoy good security, regular grass cutting on major roads, beautification projects for road reserves, and weekly litter collection, initiatives that help make it a suburb residents can be proud to call home.
While the future may still present challenges, Gildenhuys remains hopeful. “We do not expect 2025 to be any different, but with continued support, both in encouragement and financially, we will tackle next year with the same togetherness as 2024.”
As the holiday season approaches, the Sunninghill Community Ratepayers Association expresses gratitude to its residents for their unwavering support. “For those who are traveling away from us during this festive period, please do so safely and come back home to us, your family,” Gildenhuys urged.
“Wishing all residents health, financial security, happiness, and countless blessings in 2025, the association looks forward to facing the new year together, united as one community.”
