Water leak results in massive potholes as councillor demands repairs
Potholes, pipe leaks, and problems. What is going on in Broadacres?
There is a big problem at the intersection of Bushwillow Street and Richard Road between Broadacres and Witkoppen.
Water was leaking onto the road and nobody knew where it was coming from. Ward 94 councillor David Foley asked Johannesburg Water (JW) to find out if it was a pipe leak or just groundwater.
After investigating, the water utility found out that it was indeed a pipe leak. They fixed the leak a few days later but now another problem has arisen –the road is full of potholes due to the water eroding the tar.

According to Foley, a bus got stuck in one of the potholes.
Foley said he had asked Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) to fix the potholes. “The constant running of water has left the road with massive potholes,” he said.

“It is now difficult for motorists to drive. Small cars have to come to a dead stop to avoid the massive potholes.”
Kelebogile Mafa from JRA promised to provide more information but none was forthcoming at the time of going to print.
