4Paws out on the street
Local animal shelter 4Paws faces an urgent crisis as their current shelter goes on the market.
4Paws Animal Shelter, committed to rescuing and re-homing vulnerable animals, has announced a crisis threatening its vital work.
The current shelter, which has been a sanctuary for countless abandoned, neglected, and abused animals, is facing imminent closure after the property was placed on the market.
For years, 4Paws has been a beacon of hope for needy animals, especially those from impoverished townships and feral cats living on the fringes of society. Their mission is to improve the quality of life for underprivileged animals by providing health care, love, and a second chance at life.

Merinda Prinsloo, CEO of 4Paws, expressed her deep concern. “Our shelter has been more than just a building; it has been a home, a haven where animals find love and care. We are now faced with the heartbreaking reality that we must find a new location to continue our work.”
After extensive searching, 4Paws has identified a promising property in Mnandi, featuring multiple outbuildings, large open spaces, and facilities ideal for housing animals, quarantine zones, food storage, and play areas. This new location offers the perfect environment for their rescue operations and the chance to expand their impact.

However, securing this new property requires significant financial support. “We are relying heavily on the generosity of the public and corporate donors. Our goal is to raise enough funds to purchase and establish a permanent home for the animals we serve.”

The organisation is calling on community members to contribute through donations, volunteering, or providing materials needed for building and moving. They also need assistance with breaking down the current shelter and setting up the new one.
Over the years, 4Paws has transformed countless lives, both animals and humans. Their work includes vaccinations, sterilisations, and medical treatments that have prevented suffering and death

“Our animals deserve better. They rely on us for safety and love,” said Prinsloo. “We ask everyone to open their hearts and lend a helping hand, whether through donations, volunteering, or sharing this message. Together, we can ensure that no animal is left behind.”
