SA Guide-Dogs calls on South Africans to give the gift of the ‘Perfect Match’ this Christmas
This festive season, every donation to SA Guide-Dogs will be doubled, helping create life-changing partnerships between assistance dogs and people living with disabilities.
As South Africa commemorates National Disability Awareness Month this December, the South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind (GDA) is calling on the public to ‘give the gift of the perfect match’ this Christmas.
Through a special matched-giving campaign, every rand donated will be doubled, helping create more life-changing partnerships between trained assistance dogs and people living with disabilities.

Vanda Harries, head of marketing for GDA, explained that the Perfect Match fundraising campaign celebrates the two kinds of ‘perfect matches’ at the heart of what they do.
“The first is the match between an assistance dog and a person with a disability, a match formed through an assessment process that looks at temperament, personality, lifestyle, mobility needs, emotional compatibility, etc. We don’t simply give a dog to someone; we carefully craft a partnership that will support both for years to come,” said Harries.
“The second perfect match is the one we share with our partners and donors, especially in this case, Bob Martin, who, for more than 30 years, has provided the nutrition that fuels our dogs’ training.”
And this Christmas, they’re taking that partnership even further through matched giving: whatever the public donates, Bob Martin will match it, rand-for-rand. Doubling the impact and joy this Christmas.
