Johannesburg Water says Paulshof pipeline repairs progressing, but no restoration time yet
The water utility says repairs to the burst pipeline are progressing after the damaged pipeline was isolated, but residents in several areas remain without water.
Johannesburg Water (JW) says repair work on the burst water pipeline at the corner of Witkoppen Road and Milcliff Drive in Paulshof is progressing after the damaged pipeline was successfully isolated.
In an update issued on July 13 on its social media accounts, the utility said crews have made progress since the technical challenges that delayed repairs over the weekend.

“The affected pipeline has been isolated, and repair work is progressing. Although there is still water in the pipeline, the pressure has been reduced sufficiently for our teams to continue repairs safely.”
The latest update follows the July 12 announcement that unforeseen technical challenges had delayed repairs, while the pipeline continued draining before work could begin.
Despite the progress, Johannesburg Water said there is still no estimated time for the restoration of water supply. “Further updates will be communicated as work progresses and more information becomes available.”
Residents have once again been urged to keep away from the repair site while emergency work continues. “For public safety, residents are requested not to visit the repair site, as it is an active construction area with deep excavations.”

Motorists travelling through the intersection of Witkoppen Road and Milcliff Drive have also been advised to exercise caution.
The unplanned water interruption continues to affect Edenburg, Paulshof, parts of Rivonia, Sunninghill, Leeuwkop, Waterfall, Equestrian Estate, Polofields Crossing, Polofields Lifestyle Estate, Woodmead, Khyber Rock, Wendywood, and surrounding areas.
“Johannesburg Water apologises for the inconvenience and thanks customers for their patience, understanding, and co-operation while every effort is made to restore the water supply as quickly as possible.”
Ward 93 councillor Vino Reddy said the repairs had been further delayed after members of the Johannesburg Water repair team sustained injuries while on site.
When approached for comment, Johannesburg Water’s Austin Mncube confirmed receipt of the media query.
“[We] will provide a response within our standard turnaround time of 24 to 48 hours, depending on the complexity of the matter and the input required from relevant technical departments.”
This story will be updated once Johannesburg Water’s response is received.
