Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo commits to maintenance at Rietfontein Nature Reserve
Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo says seasonal maintenance has been completed at Rietfontein Nature Reserve, with additional facility management issues expected to be addressed by the end of August.
Following concerns raised by residents about the deteriorating condition of Rietfontein Nature Reserve, Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ) has confirmed that maintenance work is underway.
As previously reported by the Fourways Review [https://share.google/bGWE11SuREZcgIYuS], residents highlighted several issues at the Paulshof reserve, including a persistent water leak near the public toilets, eroding pathways, invasive lantana, broken glass, neglected garden beds, and evidence of candles being lit within the reserve.
In response to the publication’s enquiries, JCPZ spokesperson Jenny Moodley said City Parks has already completed its seasonal maintenance at the reserve.

“Other facility management issues raised will be attended to by end August.”
Previously, Moodley had said the reserve is managed through a lease agreement between the Johannesburg Property Company and the facility.
However, Lucky Sindane, Johannesburg Property Company spokesperson, clarified that it does not manage nature reserves, as there is no lease agreement in place.
