Fourways Crossing celebrates Mandela Day by donating 500 items to Witkoppen Clinic
The shopping centre marked Mandela Day by donating 500 pre-loved clothing items collected through its Community Closet to vulnerable families, while the initiative continues to support both people and rescued animals.
Earlier this month, Fourways Crossing launched its Community Closet, in collaboration with the Society for Animals in Distress (Said).
The initiative provides the community with a convenient way to donate quality pre-loved clothing, pet essentials, shoes, and accessories, while creating a sustainable way of supporting both people and animals in need.
As part of its Mandela Day initiative, Fourways Crossing distributed 500 items collected through the Community Closet to Witkoppen Clinic on July 17, where the items were handed to patients and families identified by the clinic as being in urgent need.

One of the recipients, Wendy Mpoko, said: “I honestly didn’t expect to receive something like this today. These clothes will help my baby so much, and I am truly grateful to everyone who donated. Thank you for thinking about people like us.”
Beverly Sefuralo, marketing manager of the shopping centre, said the remaining donated clothing will be handed over to Said, where the items will be resold through the organisation’s thrift initiatives to raise funds that support its ongoing animal welfare programmes.
“We would like to sincerely thank every member of our community who joined hands with us by donating their pre-loved items.
Because of your generosity, these items are now in the hands of people who truly need them.

Sefuralo said the Community Closet remains open and continues to welcome donations from the public. “We’re also collecting pet food, blankets, toys, leads, bowls, and other pet essentials on behalf of Said to help care for rescued animals awaiting their forever homes.”
Community members can drop off donations at the Community Closet, located on the upper level of Fourways Crossing, next to Cannafrica and Cash Converters.
