
EFC fighter Vince Bembe set a new record for the fastest knockout in the history of the championship.
Bembe knocked out Adrain Sanchez, who was sporting pink shorts as a symbol of support for those affected by cancer, in just 13 seconds in the first round.
The duo battled it out on May 9 at the EFC Performance Institute in Witkoppen.
Bembe reflected on his momentous victory, which he described as a ‘surreal experience’.“I didn’t know until after the fight that I made it in that record,” he said. “It felt great because all I want to do is be the best.”
The fighter credited his ability to stay focused saying, “It was like I was relaxed and calm, just circling him.” He revealed that he was able to capitalise on Sanchez’s mistake. “I needed to fake a look, then I looked down, and then I went straight to him.”

Bembe celebrated his victory with his family and team, expressing his gratitude for their support. “My family and my team are happy with my performance and the record-breaking. They are so proud and were celebrating my achievement.”
When asked about how his life has changed since becoming an MMA fighter, Bembe reflected on his newfound discipline and motivation. “My life has changed since I became an MMA fighter. Now I’m disciplined and motivated. I’m faithful and go to church a lot.”

Bembe’s goals for the future are ambitious and he aims to become the three-division champ in the bantamweight, featherweight, and lightweight divisions. He believes that his drive to be the best will continue to push him forward.

As for sponsorship opportunities and media appearances, Bembe hopes that his record-breaking knockout will open up new doors for him. “Hopefully, it will open up sponsorship opportunities for me. I need sponsorship so that I can focus on my dream.”
Bembe expressed his excitement for upcoming fights and training camps. “I’m going to take a one-week break from training and everything just to regroup my body and get everything sharp again. Then after that, I’ll start training hard to be the best fighter that they ever had in the EFC.”

- Faeez ‘Troublemaker’ Jacobs caused an upset by knocking out Sylvester ‘Gladiator’ Chipfumbu in round one, setting up a potential showdown with Nkazimulo Zulu.
- Zaakir Badat from Durban won the welterweight title in the main event by knocking out Jailson Sousa from Cape Town with a quick combination of punches in the first round.
