Rivonia Recreation Club seeks funding for court repairs and upgrades
Despite the need for repairs and upgrades, the Rivonia Recreation Club is hosting the Sets in the City tennis tournament to promote social tennis and attract new members.
The Rivonia Recreation Club is in dire need of funds to repair and upgrade its tennis courts, as well as other facilities.
According to a club representative: “The club is needing to redo the ladies bathrooms, the security fencing, and two of the courts need to be resurfaced and lights to be installed. A seating area is also needed to view courts five and six.”
Additionally, internal repairs are required, including fixing broken doors, windows, shelving, skylights, and stacking doors.

“The hole in the nets are not ideal, but we will manage though this,” the club mentioned.
The club is hosting the Sets in the City Tournament, which aims to encourage more tennis players to join the club, and promote their social tennis options. Although the club didn’t secure sponsorship this year, they hope to attract potential sponsors for future events.
The club’s facilities are not limited to tennis courts. They also cater to dancers, gymnasts, paddlers, karate enthusiasts, and parkour runners. Without necessary funding, the club’s facilities will continue to deteriorate.

“Sadly, everything continues to deteriorate without constant attention,” the club warned. However, with the necessary repairs and upgrades, the club’s experience for members and tournament participants will be significantly enhanced.
“All the needed upgrades will enhance the experience for all members, and the community too,” the club said. The repairs will also create pride and attract more members, increasing the number of tennis players, helping to keep the sport alive.
The club invites supporters to contribute to the fundraising efforts. “All are welcome to come to the club. Enjoy a lovely meal, become a member, or join us at the Bingo Music evening on July 12.”

The Sets in the City tournament has ambitions to expand beyond Rivonia Recreation Club, with plans to take it to other social tennis clubs and potentially even city-to-city.
