Godknows Ndlovu welcomes Zeca Martinho fight at EFC 139

Zimbabwean fighter Godknows Ndlovu says the pressure is on Mozambique’s undefeated prospect Zeca Martinho after the latter specifically requested their bout on November 5.

Zimbabwean fighter Godknows ‘The General’ Ndlovu is embracing the spotlight after undefeated Mozambican prospect Zeca Martinho specifically requested a bout against him at EFC 139 on November 5.

Martinho, still 2-0 and moving up in weight, has called out the Topgun MMA campaigner. Ndlovu, sitting at 6-6, said he welcomed the opportunity without hesitation.

“Since he’s the one who requested the fight, let’s give it to him,” Ndlovu said. “Probably he might have seen some holes in me, but trust me, when I got the offer, I didn’t think twice; it’s what I wanted too. The pressure is going to be on him. I fought and beat undefeated guys before, so I am just going to continue.”

He remains confident for this camp. “Weight cut was never an issue before; it’s just the last bout where I messed up, but I’m not worried about that at all. I know I will make it pretty good and easy.”

On Martinho’s footage, Ndlovu prefers to focus inward. “I don’t pay for what he does, but instead focus on how I’m going to do it. It’s the same as me; I’m not going to fight the same way I did last fight. I always make sure I improve and do better than I did last fight.”

His last outing, a solid win over Roevan de Beer in May, remains a highlight. “Roevan is a legend, very good on the ground, and much respect. Dominating such a guy on his own game, I mean, it was a big win.”

Training out of Topgun MMA, the camp has been familiar but intensified. “The camp has been the same; the only difference is we did more work and kept on improving than the last one. Been working a lot with different fighters both at Topgun and Pound for Pound Gym in Dainfern.”

At this stage of his career, Ndlovu is not fixated on rankings. “I don’t look much at rankings. The only important thing for me is to keep winning and have a winning streak, then the rest will fall into place.”

Faith, family, and past hardships continue to drive him. “I can say those challenges for me built me up and made me a stronger, better person and fighter.”

Ndlovu’s goals are simple. “No pressure in the next 12 to 18 months. I just want to be more active and keep winning. I just want to inspire a lot of people that it doesn’t matter where you come from or whatever challenges you come across; you can still do it. You just have to believe in yourself.”
