Know your nominated Top Cop for #TopCop Award

FOURWAYS – Read to see who is nominated for the Top Cop Award.

Keeping the community safe from criminal activity can be a difficult role to play and the Top Cop Award is put in place to honour the policemen and women of Douglasdale Police Station for putting their lives on the line on a daily basis.

Nominated for the Saps Visible Police (Vispol) category, Constable William Magoro said he felt good to be nominated by his colleague, senior administration clerk Phuti Moloto, as it meant that his work was being recognised.

“My duties at the station are to make sure that retailers in the community have a liquor licence to sell and I also inspect that the goods that the secondhand dealers sell are authentic and not stolen goods,” Magoro said.

“As the Vispol, we are also involved in Section 102 investigation which is under the Firearm Control Act. We are also responsible for special operations such as crime prevention of housebreakings and robberies, and drug awareness.”

Magoro added that should he win the Top Cop Award he planned to share the money with his colleagues and some of it will go to his family.

Moloto said, “Constable Magoro executes his job to his [best] ability and he is always willing to go the extra-mile for the station and the community. He really cares for the community as he is also involved in the Neighbourhood Watch Programme.”
