SAPS addresses community on common crimes

Officers recently spoke to the community about crimes related to malicious damage to property, narcotics, drinking in public and hijacking and theft out of motor vehicles.

During a community cleanup project, Edenvale SAPS addressed the community about various crimes affecting the community.

Edenvale Police Station communication officer Warrant Officer Jacob Mashile said officers recently spoke to the community about crimes related to malicious damage to property, narcotics, drinking in public, hijacking and theft out of motor vehicles.

“The Edenvale community and Edenvale SAPS acting station commander Lieutenant Colonel Lionel Chetty welcomed the initiative,” said Mashile.

Chetty thanked the members for their dedication and commitment to the community.

The police shared the information at an Earth Day project initiated by Essentially Edenvale.

Mashile said like officers dedicated to creating a better community, the residents are committed to cleaning up the community.

“This campaign not only creates awareness about the problem but illustrates perfectly that South Africans can,and should, work together towards a common goal,” said Mashile.
