Nigel SPCA seeks passionate volunteers to help drive animal welfare efforts

The Nigel SPCA has called on community members to volunteer their skills and expertise to strengthen its management committee amid growing demand for its services.
The organisation says it is facing increasing pressure to meet the needs of animals in the Nigel area, while operating with limited resources. As a result, it is seeking to strengthen its governance structure by appointing committed individuals to guide its long-term sustainability and growth.
Chairperson Angela Morris said the initiative comes at a critical time for the organisation.
“We are at a point where the demand for our services continues to grow, and our existing resources are under strain.
“We are looking for passionate and skilled individuals who can help us build a stronger foundation and ensure we continue making a meaningful impact in the lives of animals in our community.

“We are calling on people who want to create real change and be the voice for those who cannot speak. Together, we can strengthen our efforts and ensure the well-being of every animal in our care,” she said.
The management committee plays a key role in providing strategic direction and oversight, while supporting the organisation’s broader objectives.
Members are expected to assist with fundraising initiatives, help establish corporate social investment partnerships, contribute to policy development and ensure compliance with governance standards.
They will also support community outreach and awareness programmes, while offering guidance to operational staff. Although the role is not involved in daily operations, members are required to actively participate and contribute to decision-making processes.
Morris also added that attracting individuals with experience in areas such as fundraising, governance, finance, marketing and CSI will be essential to strengthening the organisation’s capacity.
“Fundraising and corporate partnerships are critical to our sustainability. These skills enable us to secure consistent funding for animal care, maintain our daily operations and expand our outreach programmes. “

“With stronger support in these areas, we can respond more effectively to emergencies and reach more animals in need. Our goal is to build a compassionate community where fewer animals suffer, more are cared for, and responsible pet ownership becomes the norm,” she said.
Individuals passionate about animal welfare and community upliftment, and willing to commit their time and expertise, are encouraged to apply. Interested candidates can submit their CVs via email to [email protected]
