Truck driver shot and injured in N3 incident near Heidelberg as second truck also targeted
A truck driver sustained minor injuries after a shooting on the N3 near the Benoni bridge in Heidelberg, with a second truck also coming under fire in a suspected related incident on April 23.
A truck driver was left with minor injuries after a shooting incident on the N3 near the Benoni bridge in Heidelberg on the evening of April 23, raising fresh concerns about safety along the busy transport route.
According to reports, the incident occurred when Heidelberg Volunteer Medics and First Aid Responders were alerted and immediately dispatched to the scene.
While en route, Volunteer Operations called for additional security support from Crime Stop and notified SAPS to respond.
Upon arrival, emergency responders found the driver with light injuries and proceeded to assess his condition.
During this time, a second truck came under fire in what is believed to be a related incident. No injuries were reported in the second shooting.
The injured driver was later transported privately to a nearby hospital for further medical treatment. Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shootings, including whether the incidents are linked.
Motorists, particularly truck drivers, have been urged to remain vigilant when travelling along the N3, especially during evening hours, as concerns over criminal activity on major routes continue to grow.
