Driver survives collision with train
The incident took place on Northern Road at the railway level crossing just outside Vosloorus.
A driver of a light motor vehicle sustained serious injuries after his vehicle collided with a goods train in Mapleton in Boksburg in Ekurhuleni on May 14 in the afternoon.
Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) rescue team from Vosloorus Fire Station responded swiftly to the scene and rescued the only occupant (the driver of the vehicle) from the wreckage before being transported by private ambulance to hospital for further medical care.
The road had to be closed for the duration of the incident until all on-scene investigations were conducted by the relevant authorities.
