Nigel Secondary School produces top learners
NIGEL - The principal of Nigel Secondary School, Deon Vengatsammy could not be more pleased after the school achieved a pass rate of 90,9% in 2015.
Although the pass rated had dropped, five learners produced distinctions. 98% Of the 55 matric learners qualified to study at tertiary level, while 18% for a Bachelors Degree and 80% for diploma.
Top matric learner Nicole Michaels achieved five distinctions, namely Afrikaans (86%), Mathematics Literacy (86%), Life Orientation (81%), History (92%) and Tourism (91%). According to her Afrikaans teacher Mrs Annelise Vlok, Nicole was always the quiet girl at the back of the class. “She was the one learner that always knew the correct answers, but hardly ever spoke up,” Mrs Vlok described Nicole’s character and added that she was proud to have contributed in the shy learner’s success.
“I am pleased with the overall results and wish to thank the learners, staff, members of the SGB and the parents for their efforts,” Mr Vengatsammy said.
