According to Home Affairs spokesperson Maylhlome Tshwete, the 35 year old woman has worked for the department for 11 years. She has been under investigation since January and when the Hawks searched her home and office, they discovered hundreds of fraudulent birth certificates.

The woman lives in a double-story house in Germiston.

She has been charged at SAPS Nigel and will appear in the magistrate’s court soon.

“The department has a zero tolerance approach on corruption,” Tshwete said.
