Tau Motaung is a member of the Department of Correctional Services (ModderBee) Athlete Club.

He successfully completed the Comrades Marathon on May 29 in a time of 8:2:01 and finished the race 1093rd overall. Last year Tau finished 708th overall, but as a result of severe leg cramps, he struggled to perform at his best this year. He also received a Comrades Marathon Club certificate for third place overall: Department Correctional Services Athletics Club 2015.

His team mate Madillo Selepe (42) participated for the first time this year, but failed to finish within the required 12 hours. She was cut off at the 70km mark with only 19kms remaining to the finish line. Madillo however, will participate again next year and said she will train effortlessly to finish the race in time.

Another 29 athletes from the Honey Lotus Athletics Club also participated in the Comrades Marathon.

Here are some of the participating athletes with their medals: Zeblon Ndabazabantu Nxumalo (8:33:42), Potia Ntissa (11:33:47), Luzuko Ntissa (0:25:42),Thabo Sauhatsi (8:37:10), Elijah Mcwera (7:23:34), Isaac Mqoqwa (6:03:18), and Thabiso Bontsi (6:36:59). Thabiso who had finished 76th overall last year, promised himself he will be the winner of the 2017 Comrades Marathon.
