WATCH: EMPD officer assaulted by civilian after issuing fine outside school (updated)
NIGEL - Police in Dunnottar are investigating an assault case, after EMPD officer Col Mbele from Duduza was violently assaulted by a civilian when issuing him with a fine outside Dunnottar Primary School on August 15.

According to EMPD spokesperson Clifford Shogwe, Chief Superintendent Mbele, who is head of Duduza EMPD, is left traumatised and humiliated by the assaulted which occurred front in full view of adults and learners. Shongwe told HERAUT today that the accused had parked illegally on a solid white line and Mbele had reprimanded him. The suspect then attacked officer Mbele.
The accused was arrested, detained and appeared in Dunnottar Court on August 16, but the case was postponed until 8 September, pending further investigation.
Officer Mbele is back at work and still recovering, but according to Shonge, he sustained no visible injuries.
