Nigel Licensing Department to receive new interns

Queuing and excessive long waiting periods at the Nigel licensing department in Kerk Street have for the past few years tested the patience of many customers.

Many problems associated with road safety begin and end at the licensing department and Nigel Licensing Department is no different with most customers complaining about the waiting periods and long queues.

After referring the issue to Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) chief operations officer Joe Lesiba Mojapelo, DA ward councillor Wollaston Labuschagne received confirmation on August 18, that service at the local licensing office should indeed improve and that the appointment of interns to alleviate workflow, was offered as a short-term solution.

Services offered at Nigel Licensing Department include the issue of and/or renewal of vehicle registrations, applications for driver’s and learner driver’s licences, testing and issue of driver’s and learner driver’s licences, issuing of roadworthy certificates among others. They operate from 08:00 to 15:00 Mondays to Friday, but from 09:00 to 15:00 on Wednesdays.
