Ride for MRP Foundation kicks off in Nigel this weekend

The annual Ride for MRP Foundation is a punishing 606 km ride from Johannesburg to Durban (December 3 - 4) and will start this weekend in Nigel.

The event (which is supported by Absa) is growing from strength to strength through strong partnerships and a committed peloton who are passionate about raising funds and awareness for the MRP Foundation.

This year’s ride will start at 16:30 in Nigel on December 3 and will pass through Standerton, Volksrust, Newcastle and will arrive in Ladysmith after 14 hours of grueling cycling.

On December 4, the ride will resume at 04:00 in Ladysmith, descending through Estcourt, Mooi River, Nottingham Road, Midmar, Howick, Hilton, Pietermaritzburg and Hillcrest, where cyclists will be escorted by the Metro Police through Pinetown, before arriving at the finish line at the MRP Head Office in Durban.

The courageous cyclists will have to dig deep to push past their physical and mental limits to complete the challenging two-day ride, and in doing so, support its purpose in raising much needed funds to help empower South Africa’s youth by unlocking their full potential through the MRP Foundation’s high impact programmes.

HERAUT would like to hear from local (Nigel and Heidelberg) cyclists who will be participating in the event.
