DA tables motion against Lesedi Mayor

Today the Democratic Alliance (DA) Caucus in the Lesedi Local Municipality has tabled a motion of no confidence in Executive Mayor Cllr. Francina Maloka for poor performance.

We are bringing this motion against the Mayor as we strongly believe that she has failed in her mandate to the residents of Lesedi.

Maloka has failed to inform the municipality about non-compliance letters from the Local Government MEC regarding the appointments of former senior officials including the Chief Financial Officer and Municipal Manager who were not qualified to hold either of these positions.

She has also brought the municipality into disrepute by delaying a corruption investigation by the Special Investigative Unit (SIU) into unauthorised, irregular or fruitless and wasteful expenditure incurred in respect of several services.

Currently, Maloka is involved in an apparent witch-hunt on the current Acting Municipal Manager, Adv. Gugu Thimane. She has falsely implicated her in a R50 million security tender fraud, as subsequent investigations into these allegations proved baseless, and devoid of any truth.

Residents can no longer tolerate this poor political leadership and lack of diligence to get the officials to execute their jobs as expected.
