Local beauty a Miss Luminous SA Gauteng finalist

HEIDELBERG – Lesigo Malehlohonollo Sibanda (21) has been staying in Ratanda for the past 12 years and started modelling at the age of six in pre-school.

To expand her modelling career, she entered Miss Luminous and after the application process and online interviews were done, she was announced as one of the finalists.

Miss Luminous South Africa is an NPO committed to the development and empowerment of the youth and community of South Africa.

“I saw an opportunity and grabbed it with both my hands. This goes back to my favourite quote ‘Take the risk or lose the chance’, it was a chance I had to take and see where it gets me with my modelling career,” Lesigo said.

Lesigo advocates for education and her top priority project is keeping a girl child in school, making sure they understand the importance of education. She firmly believes that if you educate a girl child, you educate the whole nation.

Lesigo started a sanitary towel drive on May 28 at Ratanda Primary School. Other projects she is involved in are the soup kitchen, ‘#Feedafamily’, which is taking place every Tuesdays and Thursdays around the Ratanda area and the school shoes campaign and clothing campaign, which are still in the process.

When asked who inspires her and why she said: “My mother is my role model. She is my number one supporter. She is a strong and phenomenal woman who always tells me to take charge of my life and to follow my heart.”

The grand finale will be on December 10 at the Durban City Hall in KZN.

“If I win the Miss Luminous title, I will continue with my current projects, but my main focus will be on education,” Lesigo concluded. HERAUT wishes this local beauty well and hopes that she will bring the crown home in December.
