Mayor donates bicycles to learners

Transport problems for learners were sorted by the donation of bicycles from the mayor of LLM.

The mayor of Lesedi Local Municipality (LLM), Mluleki Nkosi, visited four local schools on June 3.

Nkosi donated 218 bicycles to learners who have transport challenges and are not close to any taxi ranks or bus stops.

Learners from Effort Primary School, Endicott Primary School, Sthembiso Primary School and Zikhethele Secondary School were beneficiaries who received the bicycles.

“Learners should be more focused on their books and their education than stress about how they must commute to school,” Nkosi emphasised.

Those who received bicycles were taught by assigned traffic officers about road safety and how to signal to motorists, pedestrians and other cyclists when riding their bicycles.
