The awareness campaign aimed at addressing the rising number of hijacking incidents involving local taxi operators.
Members from the Department of Community Safety, the Youth Crime Prevention Desk and the Duduza police engaged and sensitised local taxi drivers and passengers to be vigilant when operating, especially at sunset.
They were requested to work with the police instead of evading police at checkpoints.
The general public was also sensitised to denounce gender-based violence by reporting any incidents of violence.
The campaign was appreciated by the taxi drivers and passengers with more than 500 pamphlets with safety tips distributed and will be an ongoing campaign in all areas affected.
