NCOP asks for cooperation during lockdown

Shaun Bamford, from Nigel Community on Patrol (NCOP), asked residents on July 8 to follow Covid-19 guidelines as the number of people infected by the virus rapidly increased over the last few weeks.

“If you can stay at home, please do it for your family and fellow community members,” Bamford said.

“When you are positive with Covid-19, stay at home and isolate.

“Ask a family member or a neighbour to do your grocery shopping for you.

“Some grocery stores and local pharmacies deliver to your home.

“Let’s try to save lives by limiting our interaction with people.

“Please look after each other, be safe and remember to wear your masks.”

Bamford also advised residents to keep an eye out for any illegal activities during this time.

“With the curfew, there are a lot of visitors scouting the streets at night,” he said.

“If you can get involved in any community endeavours, remember you do not need to have a radio or do patrols to make a difference.

“You being our eyes and ears or just being observant can help as much.

“There are different structures and platforms in place in Nigel that you can join like the CPF, NCOP, McKenziville Neighbourhood Watch, Farm Watch, Rural Safety Structures and GVE among others.

“Please enquire from the coordinators or active members to get involved.

“With all the various community groups working in synergy, the SAPS can be informed of any possible criminal activities and this also creates a platform where we as a community can give back by merely observing and looking out for each other.”
