Local nurse wins car at Pick ‘n Pay
A local nurse from the Covid ward at the Heidelberg Hospital won a brand new car on July 31.
Nelia Naudé (50) had the winning key to unlock the door of a Hyundai Atos in the Pick ‘n Pay Win a Car Competition sponsored by Kellogg’s.
The car was parked at the entrance of Pick ‘n Pay and to stand a chance to win the enticing new set of wheels, shoppers had to buy two Kellogg’s instant noodles assorted products, write their details on the back of the slip, drop the slip through the window and hope on a call to receive one of 11 keys.
All 11 key recipients had to be at Pick ’n Pay Victorian Centre at 12:30 on July 31 with the hope that their key would open the door to the new Hyundai.
Naudé was finalist number six and had the winning key.
“I have never owned a car and my feet have always been my transport,” she said.
Pick ‘n Pay management and Kellogg’s sales director Tjokker Botha made sure the proceedings went according to the rules.
All finalists were handed a Kellogg’s T-shirt.
The crowd cheered as Naudé unlocked the door and she was congratulated by Pick ‘n Pay management.
On learning that Naudé is a nurse at the local hospital, Botha said: “She is absolutely the right person to win this prize.
Naudé does not have a licence and has also never driven before.
“I am never too old to learn. I am determined to learn how to drive and to get my licence,” she added.
“We would like to thank all our customers as well as Kellogg’s South Africa for making this competition possible,” said Etienne Naude, manager at Pick ‘n Pay.
Naudé is looking forward to officially receiving her wheels and giving her feet a rest.
