Local mechanic shot in Duduza

Duma Ngwenya (43) was shot outside his home in Zamani.

The community of Zamani is shocked and saddened by the killing of Duma Ngwenya, who was well-known and described as an excellent mechanic.

Ngwenya (43) was fatally shot on October 4 outside his home in Zamani.

It was reported that Ngwenya had arrived home at around 20:00 and opened the gate to park his vehicle.

According to Ngwenya’s nephew, he heard the gate close again before his uncle could enter the yard.

Ngwenya was approached by an unknown person who fired four shots at him and then fled the scene in a white bakkie.

Ngwenya died on the scene.

The motive for the shooting is unknown.

Police have appealed to anyone who might have any information that could lead to the arrest of perpetrators to contact the Duduza SAPS on 071 675 7075 or make use of the SAPS Crime Stop line on 0800 10111.
