Bulelani Twala is heading to new heights
Bulelani is ready to continue with his music career after he finished in eighth place in Idols.
Local singer and musician Bulelani Mpumelelo Twala (19) described his recent journey as a contestant on Idols SA as amazing.
Although Twala fell out of the national singing competition on October 3, he maintains that the show has taught him a lot and that he is ready to take the next step in his career as a singer.
Twala left the competition in the eighth spot.
HERAUT spoke to Twala on Thursday to find out more.
“Entering the competition wasn’t my initial plan,” he said.
“Because I finished matric last year, I really wanted to go to university and get something behind my name as a backup.
“But singing was always the goal.”
Twala explained that he has been singing from a very young age, with motivation from his mother, and that music has always inspired him.
When his marks weren’t good enough to see him off to university, a new opportunity showed up in the form of the competition.
“When I saw the advertisement to enter the competition, I just knew I had to take the chance and enter,” Twala explained.
“It was very nerve-wracking to stand there at the audition in front of the judges and give it my all, but I had to dig deep and find the ambition and belief in myself.
“At the end of the day, I am very glad that I entered the competition because of everything it has taught me, and I am very proud to have come this far.
“The competition has left me feeling empowered and has given me the courage to take the next steps in my career.”
Twala plans on starting his own projects, which include starting his own YouTube channel and collaborating with other artists, soon.
His idol, with a special nod to the music industry, is Lloyiso, who also competed on the show a few seasons ago.
“My friends and family were all so supportive of me throughout this entire journey,” he said.
“They never doubted in me, and I hope that I made them proud with how far I have come.
“To the community, I would just like to say thank you.
“Thank you to everyone who supported me. I love all of you and I am going to make you proud and put our town on the map.”
When asked how he felt about being eliminated, Twala said: “I was disappointed when I fell out, but at the same time, I feel empowered and I am excited for what lies ahead for me and my singing career.
“I knew God had a different plan for me to follow and that I just need to work hard and be consistent.”
