A 38-year-old truck driver was arrested on November 5 for illegal possession of copper cables.
The truck driver was driving along the R550 near Duduza, a notorious area for abandoning hijacked vehicles and drivers.
SAPS members stopped the truck on the suspicion that it was or would be hijacked due to it being followed by two other vehicles.
The members stopped and searched the truck and discovered a load of copper cables.
When the driver, who was travelling from Mpumalanga, couldn’t give them a satisfactory explanation regarding the cables, he was arrested and the truck and cables seized as evidence.
