HEIDELBERG – Tony Burisch from the Heidelberg Heritage Association awarded the latest blue plaque on January 7 to homeowner Audrey Macdonald at 32 Jacobs Street, situated on the corner of van der Westhuizen Street.
Audrey and her husband, Cal Morris, have been residents there for 11 years and have been married for 41 years.
The house was reportedly built in 1898. At the time of building the house, all the wrought iron and concrete decoration fixtures on the house, wall and roof were imported.
There was a rumour that Paul Kruger’s mother lived there at one time. Apparently, as part of her daily routines, she would sit by the window and watch people walking by the house.
