Big things await local dance school
The dance school has had a very successful 2021 and looks forward to the year ahead.
Flow Dance Studio has had a very successful 2021, despite the various challenges the year brought on, according to instructor Rain Hyde.
“In April 2021, we became certified with The American Academy of Ballet when I attended their eight-day online teacher’s seminar that made use of Zoom to connect us with facilitators and dance professionals across the globe,” Hyde told the HERAUT.
“Their Performance Awards programme has been a fantastic addition to supplement our student’s training and further their performance ability.
“The work has a beautiful artistic quality to it and focuses on storytelling in dance.
“Our primary school students danced and passed their first Performance Awards later in the year and this proved to be a very positive experience for all involved.”
According to Hyde, August last year was a lot more difficult with the harsher lockdown restrictions, but despite, this the studio’s students all still worked hard and took part in the virtual Heidelberg Eisteddfod.
“This is always a highly expected time of year that brings a lot of joy to the students who get to experience the fun of solo dances and all the gorgeous costumes involved,” she continued.
“We look forward to incorporating some challenging group dances for our senior students this year.
“For our high school students, a great highlight for their 2021 was dancing their first in-person Major exam in October.”
Hyde explained that the challenging DASA Major exams are specifically designed to enhance dance quality and musicality in addition to the technique that must be mastered when performing the core syllabus.
“I am proud to say that our intermediate group passed its exam with distinction,” Hyde said with pride.
The dance studio is looking forward to an equally successful 2022.
“We are jumping into the new year with our ballet shoes on,” Hyde concluded. “We are ready to dance through this year.”
Registrations for the dance studio are open for ages three and up.
