Over 250 suspects nabbed in high-density police operations
With the festive season approaching, the SAPS continues to ensure safety for the Thembisa residents.
Integrated operations targeting suspects in the Ekurhuleni District from November 8 to November 10 led to significant successes as law enforcement agencies worked together to crack down on crime across the region.
On November 9, SAPS detectives, alongside other law enforcement members, arrested 160 suspects during operations across various precincts in the district.
These efforts focused on tracing criminals and ensuring those involved in unlawful activities were brought to justice.
Of the arrests, 120 were for contact crimes, none for contact-related crimes, 25 for other serious offences, and 22 for gender-based violence-related incidents.
Over the weekend, from November 8 to November 10, high-density operations involving SAPS, EMPD, Gauteng Traffic, Home Affairs, and other stakeholders led to the apprehension of 155 more suspects.
In Thembisa South, on November 9, police responded to a complaint about a stolen motor vehicle at NCP Hostel in Vusimuzi Section.
On their arrival, officers arrested eight suspects in possession of two unlicensed firearms, 23 rounds of ammunition, and a stolen vehicle.
The suspects were detained at Thembisa South Police Station.
District commissioner Major General Anna Sithole praised the efforts of everyone involved in the operations, highlighting the significant impact they had on improving safety across Ekurhuleni.
