Weekly crime stats report

The Heidelberg SAPS urges community members to report all crimes.

The local SAPS released these statistics on crimes reported in Heidelberg between January 27 and February 2.

The stats were shared to create awareness in the community about current crime trends.

Sector 1

• Groenfontein: Theft from motor vehicle, Jacob Street, January 29 at about 14:30.

• Bergsig: Theft general, Protea Avenue, January 31 at 00:00.

• Spaarwater: Theft general, R23 Benoni Road, February 1 at 21:30.

Property Involved: Truck batteries, gate motor and gate motor batteries.

Sector 2

• Shalimar Ridge: Robbery with firearm, Kismet Street, January 30 at 20:30.

• Heidelberg CBD: Rape, common assault, infrastructure damage, Ueckermann Street, January 30 at 10:54.

• Heidelberg Central: Theft from motor vehicle, Louw street, January 29 at 11:55.

• Heidelberg Ext 6: Business burglary, Chris Street, January 28 at 15:50.

• Heidelberg Central: Attempted theft of motor vehicle, HF Verwoerd street, January 29.

• Heidelberg Central: Theft of motor vehicle, Louw Street, January 28 at 14:20.

• Heidelberg Central: Attempted theft of motor vehicle, Louw Street, January 27 at 14:30.

• Heidelberg Ext 6: Business burglary on Chris Street, February 2 at 23:50.

Property involved: Cellphone, money, truck batteries, tools, compressor, spares, Toyota Land Cruiser LDV, Toyota Prado, Toyota Fortuner and copper cables.

Sector 3

• Rensburg: Business burglary, R23 Balfour Road, January 12 at 09:00.

• N3 Highway: Murder, January 28 at 08:00.

• Rensburg: House robbery, Vlok Street, January 27 at 10:00.

• Rensburg: Burglary residential, Coen Labuschagne Street, January 26 at 22:00.

• Rensburg: Malicious damage to property, Nel Street, February 1 at 14:40.

• Rensburg: Theft general and malicious damage to property, Nel Street, January 31 at 11:00.

• Steynskraal: Infrastructure damage, Spruytsrus, February 2 at 10:00.

Property involved: Microwave, cellphone, TV, firearm and ammunition, laptop, Peugeot 3008, DVD, CD player, PS4 game, shoes, Kenwood appliance, motor vehicle, electric meter, door and cables.

The Heidelberg SAPS urge community members to report crime and illegal or suspicious activities because the SAPS can only respond to criminal activities if they are reported.

This will also allow the police to focus on hotspots.
