Shooter takes his life to prevent arrest
The deceased shooter is alleged to have shot another man.
The SAPS discovered the body of a shooting suspect on Zuid Street, Rensburg, on March 3.
According to Ratanda SAPS corporate communications officer Sergeant Moss Maluleke, the police received a report of a shooting at 16:30 that day. When the SAPS arrived at the scene on Phakathi Street, Ext 23, community members told them there was a shooting and that the man’s family rushed him to the local hospital.
The police went to the hospital and spoke to the victim, who identified the shooter.
The police later discovered the shooter in an open piece of land on Zuid Street, Rensburg.
Further reports indicate the shooter shot himself before security companies and AfriForum Heidelberg could apprehend him and hand him to the police.
The Ratanda SAPS has opened a docket.
