Search for missing man ends in tragedy as body found in Blesbokspruit
The victim is believed to have drowned.
The Ratanda SAPS promptly launched a search operation after receiving a missing person report at about 15:30 on May 19.
The effort continued into the evening, but poor visibility and safety concerns saw it called off at 22:00.
The Ratanda SAPS, the Ekurhuleni Water Wing Unit and family members continued the search with a helicopter and drone unit the next day.
At 14:30, they found a decomposed body on the Blesbokspruit water edge.
According to family and friends, the body was allegedly missing person Fana ‘Shesha’ Nkosi.
His father identified the body. As per reports, he was last seen on April 9 but reported missing only on May 19.

Two of Fana’s friends alleged that when he returned with his friends from collecting mealies from Hall Farm, they tried to cross the Blesbokspruit.
The two friends crossed successfully, but Fana got stuck in the water.
Allegedly, the two friends failed to notify the family or the police.
The Ratanda SAPS has opened an inquest docket, and investigations continue.
