Heidelberg weekly crime stats: SAPS shares reported incidents
Crime trends per sector highlighted.
Local SAPS released the following statistics on crimes reported in Heidelberg between May 19 to 25.
The stats have been shared to create awareness in the community about current crime trends in the area.
Sector 1:
(Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, and rural areas – Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve)
• Bergsig: Residential Burglary: Tulpe Avenue, Mmay 23 between 07:40 and 23:45.
• Groenfontein: Theft of motor vehicle, Jacob Street, May 24 at 13:45.
• National Road 1: Carjacking and kidnapping, N3 North Highway, May 22 at 18:15.
• National Road 1: Truck hijacking: N3 North Highway, May 21 at 06:45.
• National Road 1: Carjacking and kidnapping, N3 North Highway, May 20 at 07:00.
• National Road 1: Possession of stolen vehicle, N3 North Highway, May 20 at 08:05.
Property involved: TV, Toyota Land Cruiser, Ford Ranger, Isuzu Truck, Isuzu Ldv, Toyota Corolla.
Sector 2:
(Boschfontein, Heidelberg CBD, Heidelberg Central, Jordaan Park, Klipstapel, Mount Arabel, Shalimar Ridge and Schickfontein)
• Heidelberg Central: Common robbery, Retief Street, May 23 at 10:00.
• Heidelberg Central: Common robbery, HF Verwoerd Street, May 24 at 17:00.
Property involved: Cellphone, ID, bag, wallet, money.
Sector 3:
(Bothaskraal, De Hoek, Houtpoort, Rensburg, Lasgerspoort, Modderfontein and Steynskraal)
• National Road 3: Hijacking Truck and kidnapping, N3 South Highway, May 22 at 20:10.
• Rensburg: Malicious injury to property, Schuins Street, May 20 at 08:00.
• National Road 3: Carjacking and kidnapping, N3 South Highway, May 21 at 18:30.
• National Road 3: Carjacking and kidnapping, N3 South Highway, freeway, May 19 at 19:00.
Property involved: FAW truck, cargo, cellphone, money, tyre, Toyota Hilux, Volkswagen Amarok.
Heidelberg SAPS is calling on community members to report all crimes that take place in their areas.
Police can only respond to criminal activities if they are reported.
This will also allow police to focus on hotspot areas.
