Heidelberg SAPS share weekly crime stats
The public is encouraged to report crime, as the police can only act on criminal activities once they have been reported.
Heidelberg SAPS released the following statistics on crimes reported in Heidelberg between June 9 and 15.
The stats have been shared to create awareness in the community about current crime trends in the area.
Sector 1:
(Bergsig, Blinkpoort, Eendracht, Groenfontein, Heidelberg Army Gymnasium, Heidelberg Kloof, Klippoortjie, Koppieskraal, Overkruin, Poortjie, Rooikraal, and rural areas – Spaarwater and Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve)
• National Road 1: Carjacking and kidnapping, N3 North Freeway, June 13 at 17:00.
• Berg En Dal Residential Estate: Malicious damage to property, Stamvrug Street, June 12 at 16:28.
• Bergsig: Residential burglary, Daffodil Street, June 13 at 08:00.
• Bergsig: Business robbery, Heidelberg Mall, June 9 at 10:30.
Property involved: Door, window, GWM Haval H2, laptop, microwave oven, documents, and jewellery.
Sector 2:
(Boschfontein, Heidelberg CBD, Heidelberg Central, Jordaan Park, Klipstapel, Mount Arabel, Shalimar Ridge and Schickfontein)
• Heidelberg Central: Theft of motor vehicle, Louw Street, June 14 at 15:45.
• Heidelberg CBD: Theft general, Voortrekker Street, June 14 at 13:00.
• Heidelberg Central: Fraud, Du Preez Street, June 11 at 12:50.
• Heidelberg CBD: House robbery, Jacobs Street, June 11 at 03:30.
• Heidelberg Ext 6: Business robbery, Schoeman Street, June 10 at 16:25.
• Heidelberg Central: Attempted motor vehicle theft, June 10 at 07:00.

• Heidelberg Industrial: Theft of motor vehicle, Stasie Street, June 13 at 14:50.

• Rensburg: Residential burglary, Eugene Marais Street, June 12 at 14:35.
• National Road 3: Hijacking truck and kidnapping, N3 South Freeway, June 9 at 12:01.
• Houtpoort: Business burglary, Houtpoort, June 10 at 06:45.
Property involved: Toyota Etios, cellphone, laptop, money, Toyota Corolla Cross, Ford Ranger LDV, copper pipes, water pump, Isuzu truck, chainsaw, generator, wheel jack, and dust blower.
Heidelberg SAPS is calling on community members to report all crimes that take place in their areas.
Police can only respond to criminal activities if they are reported.
This will also allow police to focus on hotspot areas.
